Easy WFH makeup tips to look great on video calls

At this point, we’re all hibernating bears with hectic schedules. Honestly, when your work is five steps from your bed, there’s hardly any motivation to wear cute outfits and put on makeup, amirite? The days when we manage to sweep on a lip balm before work feels like an achievement. But there are days when we’re packed with meetings and need to switch on videos *phew, most of these could’ve been a mail, but moving on…* when we need to dress up and look like we belong to a civilised society *ahem*. So these are some skincare and makeup tips for all our WFH boss babes to look great on video calls at all times.

Skincare is a must. Even if you don’t have time to do the whole shebang, following a simple CTM routine every morning will keep your skin looking healthy and radiant. Here’s an easy skincare routine you can follow:

Step #1: It's important to start your days with cleansing to not only get rid of impurities and skincare from the previous night but also to create a clean slate for your skin to take on the day as well. And not to mention, that cold splash of water is just what we need for a quick wake-me-up in the morning, right? So use a detoxifying cleanser like the Lakmé Matte Moist Clay Face Wash. It's enriched with pure green tea extracts and mineral clays like kaolin and bentonite. It absorbs excess oil and impurities from the pores to detoxify the skin and give you cleansed, refreshed and matte-looking skin.

Step #2: After cleansing, pat your face dry with a microfiber towel. Once your face is damp, not wet, apply a nourishing moisturiser like the Lakmé 9to5 Vit C+ Day Cream. Enriched with Vitamin C, E and shea butter, this cream will keep dull skin at bay while giving you a moisturised, protected and even-toned glow. Follow this up with the Lakmé Sun Expert Ultra Matte Gel Sunscreen SPF50 which is non-sticky and gives your skin a matte finish while actively protecting your skin from sun damage. Yes, you need sunscreen even when you’re at home to keep the UVA and UVB rays juju at bay.

Step #3: Lastly, use the Lakmé Lumi Cream to get a 3D highlighter-like glow. This illuminating cream, will not only keep your skin soft and supple but will give it a lit-from-within glow too. It’s a great product to keep in handy when you have last-minute Zoom calls and don’t have time to do a full face of makeup.

Pro tip: If you have the time, pick up a jade roller or gua sha and give your face a mini massage. This will help boost blood flow, while actively calming you down *perfect hack to help you remain calm during those hour-long meetings*.

We get it, there’s not much time to follow a full-fledged makeup routine when you are most likely preparing for the meeting or doing a million things around the house while getting ready. So follow this simple makeup routine that will not take more than five minutes, but will surely make you look like a million bucks.

Step #1: Once you’re done with your skincare, mix a few drops of a liquid highlighter like the  Lakmé Absolute Liquid Highlighter with your foundation and blend it well on your face and eyes. Take some extra foundation and blend it around your eyes instead of using a concealer to save time.

Step #2: Use a coral blush like the Lakmé Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos - Coral Blush on your cheeks and nose. It’ll add a healthy flush of colour to your face and make you look lively.

Step #3: Skip the kajal, and apply 2-3 coats of the Lakmé Eyeconic Curling Mascara to amp up your lashes and make your peepers appear bigger.

Step #4: Finish off the makeup with a statement red lipstick like the Lakmé Absolute Precision Lip Paint- statement red.

Finish with setting spray and wow! Wfh has never looked so effortlessly gorgeous.
