BB Exclusive: Twin sisters singer Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar spill their beauty secrets in this candid interview

With a music teacher for a mother and a professional singer for an elder sister, singing came naturally to twin sisters Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar. They began their journey at the age of eight and haven’t looked back since. The twins have made a name for themselves in Bollywood with their sensuous voice, delivering some very popular hits. They garnered accolades for their songs like ‘Kar Gayi Chull’, ‘Sudhar Jaa’, ‘Dariya’, ‘Sona Lagda’ and more.

Apart from a beautiful voice, the sisters are also known for their glowing skin and experimental hair colours. Recently, we had the chance to interact with the duo, and we left no stone unturned to know the secret behind their gorgeous skin and stunning hair. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

How did you begin your career? Were you always inclined towards singing?

How do you maintain your reddish-brown hair colour? Any tips?

Yes, singing was our passion and a big-time hobby as we were always surrounded by so much music at home. Our elder sister, Akriti Kakar, pursued a career in professional singing at the age of 17, so it came to us naturally. Although, while growing up, we wanted to do different things, eventually, one day, we started singing professionally, and then it became a full-time job, and the journey never stopped.

Who has been your greatest guide, support, and source of inspiration in the music industry?

I think for both of us (Sukriti and Prakriti), it all started at home. Watching our elder sister, Akriti, was a true inspiration, and her journey gave us a fair share of experiences to watch and learn from. We saw the highs and lows and the courage it takes to make your own place from ground zero. It was the reason behind our dedication and career choice.

If not a singer, you would have been?

Sukriti: If not a singer, I would’ve definitely pursued aviation. I wanted to be a pilot while growing up.
Prakriti: I would have been into fashion!

You have great skin. What’s the secret?

How do you maintain your reddish-brown hair colour? Any tips?

We take our skincare seriously. For us, it begins by having clean, hydrated skin at all times and washing your makeup off is a big flex that shouldn’t be underestimated. Also, having lots of fruits, leafy green vegetables, and enough water always helps.

A natural ingredient you consider to be the saviour for your skin?

Aloe vera gel straight out of the plant is therapy for skin!

What's your AM and PM skincare routine like?

Our AM skincare is a basic natural face mask consisting of honey, yoghurt and oatmeal or sometimes even a face sheet mask when we are pressed for time.
Our PM skincare would be washing, scrubbing, cleansing, toning and ending with hydrating and moisturising!

Since you're out and about a lot, how do you ensure your skin looks great at all times?

How do you maintain your reddish-brown hair colour? Any tips?

We think carrying a face mist spray in your bag is essential. Sometimes you can even spray some on your makeup, and it gives you hydration and a lasting glow.

How do you pamper your skin after a stressful day at work?

Growing up, we’ve realised our skin is definitely on the dry side, so we have to ensure that we use a hydrating serum for the skin around the eyes and other dry areas to lock moisture for the night before we sleep. Especially after a stressful and tiresome day!

What are the three beauty products we'll never catch you without?

A tint goes a long way and is multipurpose.
A mascara to brighten up the eyes.
A lip balm because nobody likes chapped lips!

Oiling is extremely underrated; it can do so much for your hair.
A hair mask once a week goes a long way, and most importantly, a good colour protecting shampoo and conditioner helps lock in that sheen and glow and prevents damage from colour.

What's your favourite hair accessory?

Currently, for both of us, it’s satin hair scarves because it’s so easy and chic and yet so bold.

What beauty and self-care advice would you give to our readers?

We would love to tell them to protect and love their skin by cleaning it after using beauty products. Skincare is everything. Recognising which product suits your skin type is even more important. But most importantly, being happy and positive will lend the real glow, so feeling comfortable in your skin is key!
