5 DIY Summer Face Packs To Try RN

Summer has arrived – and so have all our summer skin problems. Oiliness, acne, dullness and whatnot! But not this year. We’re teaching you how to beat summer skin troubles with ingredients straight from your kitchen. So while you’re on your way to grab a mid-day snack, grab a bowl and start whipping some homemade face packs that require just three ingredients or less. Here are five DIY summer face packs you should try right now.

1. Multani mitti + rose water

Summer = oily skin. Even dry skin beauties notice more oil on their skin as the days get hotter. And what better way to beat the shine than the age-old ingredient, multani mitti? Multani mitti or fuller’s earth has the capacity to absorb oil and liquids without the usage of any harsh chemicals. This is an all-natural remedy that has been passed on for generations in India. Mix it with another marvellous natural ingredient, rose water, for the smoothest and softest skin.

How to use it:

Add two tablespoons of multani mitti to a bowl and mix a few spoons of rose water with it. The consistency of this depends on your liking. If you like a runny texture, add more rose water. Apply it all over cleansed face and neck and leave it on for about 15 minutes. This will also get rid of all the dirt and grime stuck in the crevices of your face and neck.

2. Besan + haldi + cucumber juice

This mask combined the best kitchen ingredients to fight greasiness, dehydration, acne and inflammation. Chickpea flour, also known as besan is another household staple that doubles as a face pack for fresher skin. Combining it with turmeric, it pulls out oil from the skin and fights bacteria and germs. And finally, using cucumber juice as the mixing agent will instantly cool down irritated skin and battle heat boils. Cucumber is also an amazing item to hydrate the skin as it is 96% water.

How to use it:

Mix a spoon of besan with turmeric in a small container. For cucumber juice, grate half a cucumber and squeeze out the water from it. Add it to the dry ingredients and mix to form a smooth paste. Apply this all over clean face and neck and keep it on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water and voila!

3. Rice flour + yoghurt

Rice is known for its brightening properties. In fact, it is one of the key ingredients in Korean skincare. Trust rice flour to get rid of summertime dullness. And to add a boost of moisture and glow, mix it with some yoghurt. Whether it’s greek yoghurt or regular yoghurt, it’s full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to soothe skin. Regular use of yoghurt can also diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

How to use it:

Take two spoons of rice flour in a bowl and add a spoon of yoghurt to it. Mix it well to make a smooth paste and remove any clumps the rice flour may form. Apply this on clean skin and leave it on for 10 minutes. If you have really dry skin, you can keep it for longer. To exfoliate, gently rub your skin in circular motions to let the rice flour granules do the trick. Wash it off with water and do not use face wash after that.

4. Turmeric + honey

Tired of pimples? This is your solution. Turmeric aka Haldi and honey are both chockful of antioxidant and antibacterial properties. They effectively fight bacteria and reduce acne in no time. If you’ve also been beaten down by summer acne, head to your kitchen and make this mask right away.

How to use:

Add two spoons of turmeric to a bowl and mix a spoon of honey. Apply this mix all over your face and keep it on for 10 minutes. Wash off with normal water and say hello to refreshed and moisturised skin.

5. Sandalwood powder + milk

Sandalwood powder is a hero element that does everything in the books! It fights acne-causing bacteria, soothes sunburn, removes uneven and unwanted suntan, exfoliates the skin and reduces signs of ageing such as excessively dry skin and wrinkles. Mixed with milk, this concoction will give you plump, well-rested and healthy skin.

How to use:

Add one or two spoons of sandalwood powder to a bowl and mix two spoons of milk with it. Make a thin paste with it and apply it all over clean skin. After laving it on for 10-15 minutes, wash it off with normal water.
