Get Glowing With This At-Home Body Polish Routine

Body polishing is a luxurious skin treatment that rejuvenates the skin and lends an unbeatable luminosity. However, most salons and spas charge a fortune for this and the effects wear off within a few weeks. So, if you’re looking for a way to add life to your dull skin without breaking the bank, we’ve got you covered. Here’s an easy body polish routine that can be done at home! Just follow these simple steps.

Step #1: Body scrub

Step #5: Body illuminator

Desquamation is a natural shedding cycle where newer skin cells replace old and dead cells and push them to the surface. This is a constant shedding and regenerative cycle. The speed of this might depend on your age, environment, skin type and a number of factors. However, there is one flaw in this process - the dead cells pushed to the surface do not leave and just sit on top of your skin. The dead cells form a film on top which prevent moisturisers from seeping deep into your skin. They’re also responsible for causing ingrown hair. Exfoliation helps get rid of those and provides a smoother appearance in an instant.

Start with cleansed skin. Use a mild body wash and clean your skin. Next, take a gentle body scrub like the Dove Exfoliating Body Polish Scrub with Kiwi Seeds and Cool Aloe and start rubbing it on your skin in circular motions. It scrubs off dead cells, fights blemishes and brightens the skin with aloe and kiwi extract. Don’t exert too much pressure and keep scrubbing for one to two minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water Scrub your body twice a week for the best results.

Step #2: Shave

Step #5: Body illuminator

Now, would be a good time to shave or wax your body hair (if needed). With the dead skin gone thanks to exfoliation, you will get a much smoother and cleaner shave. Go against your hair growth for the closest shave. If you prefer waxing, try it after scrubbing. Your wax will grip onto the hair better and this will lead to less hair breakage.

Step #3: Apply aloe vera gel

Step #5: Body illuminator

Now it’s time to soothe the skin with a cooling agent. Use a generous amount of the Lakmé 9to5 Naturale Aloe Aqua Gel and apply it all over your skin. This will also act as the first step of nourishment in this routine. Aloe vera is a humectant which means it draws moisture from your surroundings to keep your skin hydrated. You can either apply a small amount to let it soak into the skin, or you can apply an excess amount like a mask and rub it in after 10-15 minutes.

Step #4: Body lotion

Step #5: Body illuminator

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. The key to soft and glowing skin is moisturiser. Try the Love Beauty & Planet Natural Murumuru Butter & Rose Glow Body Lotion which gets absorbed in the skin in seconds and makes your skin look healthy. It’s enriched with Murumuru butter to deeply nourish the skin while adding a glow. You will be left with supple skin and a heavenly scent of Bulgarian roses that linger on the skin.

Step #5: Body illuminator

Step #5: Body illuminator

If you’re doing this routine before bedtime, moisturiser can be your last step. But, if you’re doing this during the day or before going out, apply a highlighter on your body. This will take it to the next level and make your skin look like a supermodel’s! You can mix a liquid illuminator with your moisturiser or layer it on top. Our favourites are Lakmé Absolute Liquid Highlighters that come in three shades for all skin tones. Pick your preferred shade and use it how you like.
