Yes, coconut oil works!

Coconut oil is known to penetrate into the deepest layer of your skin, helping to moisturise it. At the same time, its greasy texture ensures that it glides on your skin and solubilises any water resistant materials used in makeup products. Imagine having one product doing the job of a moisturiser while removing your makeup. Who wouldn’t want that?
Coconut oil works best as a makeup remover when warmed up since the warmth helps melt makeup faster. So, you can either rub it on your palms and apply to your face or warm it up in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds and then use it. It’s not recommended using the coconut oil in its solid form when it comes to makeup removal.
Why coconut oil is safe

Some makeup removers can be harsh on the skin, especially the alcohol based ones. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is mild and works on all skin types. Post makeup removal care is significant depending upon what your skin type is. It does clog pores for some skin types which is why using organic, cold pressed coconut oil is recommended.
Expert tip
We spoke to skin expert and dermatologist Dr. Aparna Santhanam about the safety aspect of using coconut oil as makeup remover which she said was “Extremely safe”.
“The only caveat is to wipe your face with a dry tissue to remove oil traces. Wash with a mild cleanser and use a skin type appropriate moisturiser post removal”.
Dermats swear by this natural makeup remover! So, add makeup removal as another task into your coconut oil’s to do list and we’re certain you won’t be disappointed.
