HOW TO PARADE IN YOUR PRINTS THIS SUMMER
If you share a love-hate relationship with summer, don’t worry, you’re just like us. After all, when else do you get to enjoy your cute little maxis and hot shorts while still trying hard not to sweat? The heat sure is a bother, but when our wardrobe looks more inviting than ever, we forget to complain!

Go big!

Two months into summer and florals start looking like wallpaper choices rather than style staples, but worry not, girls, here’s a better substitute. Tropical prints in hues like purples, pinks and deep reds are hot this season—and the bigger the better! First seen on swimsuits, they’re now on separates as well from tees to jackets.

Style them: Pair palm print palazzos with a blouson in a contrasting colour. This ensemble, especially with colour blocking, is ideal for girls with a heavier top half and athletic legs. Oversized prints draw the eye down to your flaunt-worthy frame and keep you looking like the tropical diva we know you are.

Wear it like a sailor or a librarian!

Think stripes and tweeds and you imagine a handsome sailor or one of those sexy librarians, don’t you? Well, this season both nautical stripes and tweeds are in vogue, whether its
hot shorts, camisole dresses or tanks.

Style them: Invest in a pair of nautical shorts that are just the right length to keep the heat at bay. If you sport a heavier top half and have thighs and legs to die for, pair a tweed-textured jumper top with striped shorts. Dress it down with ballet flats for a day at the mall or glam it up with comfy peep toes for that rockin’ concert.

Add a dressy swish

Don’t underestimate your sundress just yet! It can take you from picnic to party in a jiffy and saves you on days you’re looking to hide the flab that magically appeared after binging the night before. This spring, we’re going crazy over abstract and baroque-like prints on the fit and flare sundress.

Style them: Works for just every body type! If you’re waist-heavy, skip the broad elasticized belt for a slimmer one. Better yet, you don't even need to belt it. Instead, draw the attention upward by wearing a statement neckpiece, which can take the eye away from your trouble tummy.

Sport another layer

While it may sound crazy to say that you should stock up on those jackets for spring, we can’t deny how a fab-fitting short number with a cool print can take your look several notches higher. Work with different textures and opt for cotton or linen ones that are breathable and perfect for spring.

Style them: Listen up all you pear shaped girls, for this is really all you need. A leaf printed summer jacket such as this is the perfect way to create more volume on the top half. Style it with a pair of basic blue jeans in navy (to minimise your generous bottom) and you’re all set.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
