
It was a double-whammy affair when we found out that Masaba Gupta and Amit Aggarwal will be presenting the opening show. The show will mark both the coveted designers' debut on the opening stage and it will also be the first time the two maestros will be coming together. We already can’t wait to witness this fabulous collaboration.

Announcing the Lakmé Bridal Absolute Dream Team: Manish Malhotra and Cory Walia! Trousseau couturier (and every bride’s dream designer) Manish Malhotra’s collection this season is inspired by Lakmé Absolute Gloss. The designer will stay true to his dramatic Bollywood roots (with show stopper Kareena Kapoor as his muse), which will reflect rich, glossy colours in an opulent style. Along with ace makeup artist Cory Walia—the bridal dream team is set to showcase the biggest bridal trends for the season. Speaking at the launch, Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation at Lakmé said, “Lakmé always takes centre-stage in every bride’s trousseau and this year we bring her something special in the Lakmé Absolute Bridal Dream Team. A chance for every bride to be styled by Lakmé in collaboration with Manish Malhotra – the Lakmé grand finale designer and Cory Walia – Lakmé’s makeup maestro.”

Season after season, Lakmé Fashion Week pays tribute to the rich heritage of Indian hand-woven luxury. Designers like Krishna Mehta, Vaishali S, Anavila Misra, Soumitra Mondal, Pratima Pandey, and Shruti Sancheti among others will present India’s rare and finest concepts. This year, the Indian Handloom and Textile day will end with a stylish showcase of contemporary hand-woven Indian weaves by Sanjay Garg for his label Raw Mango.

This season, we’ll be keeping our eye out for some of India’s most celebrated designers: Manish Malhotra, Anju Modi, Varun Bahl, Payal Singhal, Vikram Phadnis, Shantanu and Nikhil Arjun Khanna, Anita Dongre and Rocky S—not to mention the 10 Gen Next designers that will be debuting this year.

International fashion in India: This season of LFW will see the launch of international high street fashion brands - River Island and Miss Selfridge. River Island which was recently made available on Jabong.com will now showcase its Autumn/Winter collection on the LFW ramp. Also, through an exclusive showcase on the Jabong Stage, Miss Selfridge will unveil its collection in India.
