CREATIVE WAYS TO REUSE YOUR BRIDAL LEHENGA
We all love to play dress up at weddings. Even if your lehenga weighs more than you and your best friend put together, the sheer grandeur of being dolled up in your traditional best is one feeling we love to enjoy. But what happens after the big day is long over? Don’t we just hate stashing away our beautiful outfits in our closets? We feel you, girls. So, here’s where we tell you that all’s not lost. We counted on ace designers, Jyotee Khaitan and Nivedita Saboo, who showed us that you can easily reuse your lehenga after the momentous day and turn it into a versatile fashion piece that you’d want to wear over and over. Click through to take a look.

Lighten up
Designer Jyotee Khaitan swears by this technique. She says, “Replace your heavily embroidered lehenga with a lighter one and attach the corset choli to it. Wear it with or without the dupatta depending on the occasion.” We think this look is absolutely gorgeous. It is grand, yet not too overwhelming to pull off. What do you think?

Concept Sari
We’re floored with Nivedita Saboo’s concept sari. According to her, “Your heavy bridal dupatta can be attached to more fabric and made in to a brand new sari. The exquisite pallu will make it just right for a soirée even after the wedding. Use your bridal lehenga’s blouse for the new sari or get a brand new one done and voila! You have a brand new outfit added to your wardrobe.”

Lehenga sari
Save yourself the trouble of draping a saree. With lehenga saris becoming the ‘it’ thing, you can get a traditional look with little to no fuss. In this look, Jyotee has cut the heavily embroidered lehenga and stitched it instead into a lehenga sari, making it less voluminous and easy-to-wear. We heart!

Team it differently
Use different pieces of your bridal ensemble with relatively plainer counterparts! Wear your gorgeous bridal blouse/dupatta with an absolutely plain raw silk skirt to add a lot of flare or just a simple anarkali to make an impact. Set the tone of your look by working with different creative options and you’ve got yourself a winning ensemble.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
