RAINY DAY FASHION ESSENTIALS
How we love the monsoons and everything they bring – that nip in the air, sipping on a hot cuppa and poring over a book all day. But you’d probably agree with us when we say that the downpour certainly becomes a downer in our style choices that time of the year.

And it doesn’t have to be like that! You can look just as stylish in the rains (with a bit of help from us) as you do otherwise. We’ve narrowed down a list of rainy day essentials that will pack in the fun in your ensemble, and still keep you away from all the pitter-patter.

FASHION

You don’t have to be dressed head-to-toe in plastics. Several textures like Polyurethane (PU) or even Rayon are almost a 100 percent waterproof and dry easily, if they get wet. We found these pastel green shorts by Koovs functional and absolutely on-trend.

When you can't make the monsoons an excuse to turn up at work in shorts, these cropped trousers should make it to the top of your list. They keep all the puddles from dirtying your trousers and are still the appropriate length for office.

Who says your rain boots have to be boring? Opt for pop colours like neon pinks, bright yellow and icy blues. These are absolute essentials to wade your way through heavy mucky waters and are super comfortable, too.

Sonya Vajifdar’s monsoon collection is an absolute must-check for this weather. Her line of quirky raincoats and monsoon wear is both, stylish and functional.

Stay on-trend this monsoon with the season’s most gorgeous prints. This Zara pencil skirt in floral print is perfectly stylish and can be worn with a basic white blouse. The length is ideal to keep your clothes from getting drenched and it looks great with rain boots, too.

Choose from a range of quirky umbrellas that can be a great accessory to your rainy day ensemble. We love this maharaja and maharani printed number from India Circus. It’s kitsch and is a great way to pull off some fusion (indo western) into your look.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
