6 homemade drinks that will bid your hangover goodbye
It was Friday night and you ended up having one drink too many. And now you have a hangover from hell. We’ve all been there, done that, haven’t we? The best way to avoid a hangover would be to, well, not drink. But in case that’s not working out, these homemade drinks will let you have all the fun you want, minus the hangover.

Water

So, this is what you have to do the next time you're back from a night out. Drink at least 4-6 glasses of water before you hit your bed (no pun intended). Even if you forget, the morning after will do. Since alcohol is a diuretic, which means it causes the body to lose water, drinking copious amounts of water will replenish your body and prevent dehydration and that subsequent headache.

Coconut water

While we could wax eloquent about the benefits of coconut water in general, it works particularly well, if you’re in the throes of a hangover. Coconut water is rich in potassium, a natural electrolyte. When the body loses fluid due to the consumption of alcohol, it also loses electrolytes. A drink of coconut water will help replenish the body. If you’re very low on energy, you can add a spoonful of glucose powder to feel rejuvenated.

Lemonade

It is the simplest and yet one of the most effective remedies that there is. The good ol’nimbu paani with a sprinkling of spices like black salt and jeera will do you good. Lemon juice, rich in Vitamin C effectively counters the effects of alcohol by aiding the liver’s detoxification process and refreshing you. Jeera and black salt on the other hand will alleviate any acidity you may feel and boost the digestive process.

Carrot and beet juice

It helps to have a fridge stocked with essential vegetables. If you're looking for a fix for your hangover, a blend of carrot and beet juice should do the trick. While carrot is rich in Vitamin A, beet is a rich source of iron and antioxidants. The juice will help detoxify the body and also give it a boost of nutrition!

With an excessive amount of alcohol in the body, your liver goes into overdrive, trying to metabolize it. As a result, the blood sugar levels tend to drop. This can add to your fatigue. A blend of tomatoes and celery will help. While tomato aids hydration and reduces inflammation, celery helps regulating the fluid levels and boosts the detoxification process.

Herbal tea

If you like to start your day with a piping hot cup of tea, the good news is that it’ll also help cure your hangover. Mind you, we’re talking about the herbal variety, though! Ingredients such as chamomile and rosemary are known to have a soothing effect on the stomach. Ginger in particular is known to be great for curing hangovers—it has anti-inflammatory properties, relives acidity and nausea. So, add it generously to your tea and drink up!
