Skin fit: 5 anti-ageing yoga asanas to tighten your skin

We don’t need to tell you about the many benefits of yoga for your mind, body and soul! It’s like your one stop-solution for basically any problem in life. Health and spiritual benefits aside, yoga is also great for your hair and skin. In fact, practising yoga is a superb way of fighting signs of skin ageing like fine lines and wrinkles as well. So, as your beauty BFFs, we have mapped out five anti-ageing yoga asanas that you gotta try to tighten your skin, especially around your face and neck.

01. Sarvangasana

Adho Mukha Svanasana

The sarvangasana or the shoulder stand is a sure shot way to make your skin glow and appear youthful. For this asana, start by simply lying on your back, and then slowly start lifting your legs, butt and back. You have to support all your body weight on your shoulders, with your hands supporting your back. The idea is to make your legs come in line with your shoulders. Regularly doing this asana can help your skin in the long run.

02. Hastapadasana

Adho Mukha Svanasana

The standing forward bend, aka hastapadasana, helps your skin fight free radicals that cause premature ageing. For this asana, stand with your feet apart at the hip distance and hands raised above your head. Then, slowly start bending forward and aim to touch your toes — that’s all. Don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes the first few times; regular practice will get you there!

03. Halasana

Adho Mukha Svanasana

Popularly known as the plough pose, this asana helps make your skin healthy and glowy while keeping signs of ageing at bay. Start by lying on your back with your hands by your side, then, using your core strength, sweep your legs over your head till your toes touch the ground behind your feet. Stay there for a few seconds, and then slowly bring your feet in their original position.

04. Bakasana

Adho Mukha Svanasana

As daunting as it may appear, bakasana is actually pretty great for your skin. Sit in the malasana position and then place your palms on the floor ahead of you. Slowly start pushing your weight forward and align your knees with your triceps. Now, with the most weight on your hands, start lifting your legs off the ground and slowly straighten your arms to hold the position. It may take time to master this asana, but you gotta do what you gotta do to avoid them wrinkles!

05. Adho Mukha Svanasana

Adho Mukha Svanasana

From helping against acne to wrinkles, the adho mukha svanasana, aka downward-facing dog pose, is a boon for your skin. Start this asana by positioning your knees and hands, shoulder and hip-width apart, respectively. Then align your body in a cat-cow pose and slowly lift your knees off the ground. Continue pushing your body off the ground till you reach the downward-facing dog pose, make sure your hands and feet are properly placed, and you continue breathing throughout the asana.
