Follow these easy tips to make the most out of your body lotion

The body lotion is an essential staple in your body care routine, especially during winters when your skin tends to get dry and flakey. Did you know that body lotions can do so much more than just moisturising your skin? From helping you whip up a DIY concoction to doubling up as a shaving cream, a body lotion is super versatile and handy. Here’s how you can make the most of it.

01. Make a DIY scrub

Stick to a schedule

If you don’t have an exfoliator at home, you can DIY one using lotion. All you have to do is transfer a couple of teaspoons of the lotion to a bowl, and add about half a cup of sugar to the mix; sugar acts as an exfoliant in this scrub. Once it has dissolved into the lotion, smear it over your body, and massage it into your skin in gentle circular motions to eliminate dirt, grime, dead cells, and other impurities from the surface.

02. Turn it into a shaving cream

Stick to a schedule

A lotion lubricates and moisturises your skin just as well as a standard shaving cream, and creates a smooth barrier between the blade and your skin. Once you’re done shaving, just wipe the cream away with a cotton cloth, and massage your skin for a healthy glow.

03. Apply it on warm skin

Stick to a schedule

If your skin is cold, try dabbing a warm towel all over your body before applying lotion. The warmth of your skin allows for better absorption of this skincare staple. This adds moisture to your skin as well, which is an important prerequisite for optimum absorption.

04. Stick to a schedule

One way to redeem your lotion’s benefits is by applying it to your skin at the right time. And we don’t just mean applying lotion after a shower when your skin is damp. Layer your skin with a hydrating lotion before a workout, after shaving, before going to bed, after exfoliating, and after sanitising your hands to get rid of dry skin.
